1st Day on the Job

Well just in case anyone was wondering, today was my first real day working at Buckle... it was fun and i actually sold $300 worth of merchandise, not bad for a "training day"...

Gabrielle turned 4 on the 24th. She had a princess/pony party. She had so much fun. As you can see in the 2nd pic she changed into a summer outfit that she got from my friend. We got her an easel that she loves and they make great mess free paint pens-they're awesome. Kyle-I'm so glad you're keeping us updated-you and Maggie are the only grandkids who have posted-props. So...not much new with me-I've been in hot pursuit for something to wear on my feet while in my house with 50,000 sq ft of hard cold floor for some time now-I've tried socks (too constricting and no cushion) I've tried soft slippers (can't find the right size-they always slip off my heels and I hate having to work to keep something on my feet) tried these shoe/slippers (they dig in my heels, but the next size up falls off)-My friend told me to get some crocs, which are cute for kids, but I've always had an aversion to them because they look kind of clownish on adults-I got them anyway-the mary jane style so not as clownish cause they're flat. I'm quite happy with them because they meet all my criteria: lightweight, breathable, grip my feet, grip the floor, and contour my feet. Needless to say, the search is over and I'm satisfied. They're not to wear outside though-Dr Oz says it's bad to wear shoes inside , that you wear outside because you bring all the pesticides in (yummy Cal loves pesticides). President Hinckley is probably super happy right now with his wife. I'm going to go to the Temple this week in his memory ( I was already planning to go, but it seems right). I think I'm going to start going by myself, not that I will never go with Luke, but finding a babysitter is always an obstacle (albeit a small one, but an obstacle nonetheless) so that's our new plan-I go-then he'll go-companionship is overrated anyway. Michelle cut my hair when I was in Vegas and I love it-thank you Michelle. Speaking of Vegas-I had so much turbulence on the way home-oogh I hate turbulence!!!! Seriously with every flight I get more and more freaked out. Speaking of planes crashing-LOST starts this Thursday-I don't know who watches it, but I love it and I can't wait. And yes it's going to be a VERY long time until we have all the answers people because then obviously there would be no show-so just enjoy the ride ok? All right well that 's enough rambling. Adios Andrea

New Job

Just thought I'd add my two cents on here in the form of a small update.  I got a job at Buckle, which for those of you who don't know is a fashionable clothing store. I was hired to work at the one in Riverwoods Shopping Center, which is on university ave. at the mouth of the canyon.  I'm the only male employee, that's not a complaint.  Along with this, I am anouncing that I will soon be the sexiest dressed male in the Garrett family, due to my generous discount on designer jeans and shirts.  Nothing else is new, just school and morning over the untimely death of Heath Ledger

New Poll

Check out the new poll. The last poll was about the vacation destinations and the tropical beach one won out with more than half of the vote. This poll is a toughy as I think that all of them would do a horrid job as president. So, in the spirit of voting, I did a poll about the bleak-looking future of our blessed nation.

Natalie's Birthday!

This picture was taken ouside the legndary "Pink Taco" mexican restaurant in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas! We were there to celebrate Natalie's Birthday and have a grand time. It was great to see Andrea, Alison, and Michelle who came out to make Natalie's birthday even more special. Adam was the only male in attendance hence the photo being taken by him. Hope you had a wonderful birthday Nat...and that all your birthday wishes come true!...love MG

GET YOUR OWN NAME

Ok i figured out a way so that all of our names will appear at the bottom of our posts, not just the same person... If you haven't noticed, Sadie's name is now at the bottom of all posts and that is because she used Andrea's email account to create the Greg and Jamie Garrett family blog (don't ask me why a family who never uses a blog made a blog) So here it is: If you log in as Andrea and go to settings, then permission, then when it says to invite authors, invite yourself by typing in your email you wish to use. Now you can sign in to blogger as that email account and your name will appear at the bottom of your post... You are all very welcome

I love reading the blog! I always get a good laugh. As Andrea mentioned I did have a blind date last Friday with a 26 year old (cougars - say what). It was fine but there were no sparks so not much else to report. I'm just glad I finally went on a date. Happy Birthday to Mom!

Ok I do not tell Gabrielle to pose like this-it's just natural. Gabrielle's latest fashion trend is: rolling her jeans as high as she can (usually right below knees or right above depending on jean bagginess) and her beloved new leotard, which was purchased by my friend when she took her daughter and Gabrielle to gymnastics this week. The leotard is the ultimate piece of clothing for her because it's a swimsuit (in her mind) and super tiny shorts-she's thrilled. As for Cal's pic- I don't know if everyone is familiar with Alison's love of inserting her fingers in a blanket sleeve (preferrably a triangle with a stiff, but soft fabric-or something like that). I think someone else might do it too, but I don't know who. ANYWAY, Cal does it too, so I decided to help him out one night when I was putting him down. I put the blanket on his finger and now every night he points his fingers up at me so I can place the blanket (cozy) around his fingers. I got called to nursery-no comment. Natalie had a blind date on friday-maybe she'll blog about it. Luke joined a soccer team-he wanted to just be a sub, but they needed another player so he's on the team. Go Richocet!! Love Andrea

Speaking of loose stool.... (like it wasn't going to come to this :) A couple of nights ago the girls were at the table eating and Garrett was in his highchair. Isabella remarks that Garrett stinks. I think nothing of it and continue with the culinary masterpiece currently in progress. A couple minutes later I look over and notice a pooling of carmel liquid on the floor below G's chair. Oh Crap! Litterally... out the diaper down the right leg of his jeans and onto the floor. Just one of the many joys of motherhood experienced on a daily basis :) Not much news... Christmas was good. It seems like so long ago, although you wouldn't think so with my tree still standing in the living room. That is coming down today. I wonder if the guys that installed our outside Christmas lights are ever going to come and take them down. I guess we shouldn't have paid them all the dough up front. Oh well. We'll just be prepared for next year :)

Adam, I know an easier way... I drink it before each colonoscopy, which I now have to have once a year! As of yesterday, my bathroom is finished!! Needless to say they won't be getting any referrals from us. That's about all the news here. Love you all.

Adam's Master Cleanse

Some of you may have heard of the master cleanse as it has been around since 1976 when the lovely Dr. Stanley Burroughs published his own typo-laden, 50-page book detailing the special cure-all cleanse. What it consists of is a few things:

(1) Cut a hole in the box . . . wait, wrong cleanse. First thing in the morning you drink 32 oz. of warm water with two teaspoons of uniodized salt. This is what is called an oral enema and, trust me, it is appropriately named, hi-ooooh!

(2) The rest of the day all you can take in is a drink which consists of 2 tablespoons of grade b maple syrup, 2 tablespoons of fresh-squeezed lemon or lime juice, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. You mix that with water and drink, yummy! You should have at least 6 of those drinks a day and can have as many as 12. You can stay on the cleanse for up to 40 days, but I wouldn't recommend it.

(3) Then, according to Dr. Stanley Burroughs, you will be cleansed from all of the foul toxins that we take in by what we eat. He says it even cures the flu and colds. I bet he would claim that it cures AIDS (well where were you when Arthur Ashe needed you, Stanley?!). He says that any meat is a no-no and that the lemon is the best fruit of all of them. Hey Dr. Burroughs, ever heard of acai!!???

Bottom line is that I lost 10 lbs. in 3 days on this "cleanse" and that my colon has definitely had a work out if nothing else. Today I am taking a day off which is also a no-no but it is better than killing myself. I will get back on it tomorrow and hopefully lose some more weight. Bye ya'll.

I love looking at those pictures by candlelight! How could my hair, outfit, and huge glasses have been in style? Work is starting to get busier in preparation for tax season. I started volunteering at the temple every Saturday morning at 7:00am. It is sooooo early but I guess it's worth it. Seriously, it is nice to begin my day that way. I learn a lot of little things and sometimes I get to be in the celestial room all by myself. AWESOME! I have mutual tonight and we are teaching the girls etiquette. Some of them need it. That's fo sho.

That last post was posted by me, Grant Garrett, and not by Andrea Wiseman. Am I going to be booted off the blog for blog abuse?

"Garret" has two "t's", I know!

Hi, it's Grant (mormon)

Hi guys,

This is a test. I'm going to see if this posts. All of this new-fangled technology is, quite frankly, scary! If I see this on the blog then I will add more. We've got some photos of our airborn trampoline and collapsed gazebo structure, so stay tuned for that. The winds were ridiculous here last Friday.

Romantic Family Slideshow

Sunday, January 6, 2008

I just found this picture. I love everything about it-the velvetine swivel chair, the peach pillow supporting my arm so it doesn't buckle under the hugeness of newborn Adam, his pacifier that looks like the top of a bottle, and my fancy dress that I'm wearing for Adam's homecoming. Edge- I'm gonna hold you like that next time I see you!

Santa Rosa Christmas

Happy New Year! We rung in the New Year doing Rock band-our friends got it (Greg and Jamie's kid's got it too) Anyway it is really fun-I couldn't stop doing it. Christmas was fun in Santa Rosa-and interesting...The funniest was acting out the Nativity on Christmas Eve. We recorded it and it was a full on production with costumes, narration, and direction. What made it so funny was that Rick (Luke's Dad) would be taping and then between "scenes" he forgot to turn it off so you hear all this yelling from Sherrie, "Why are you guys in there? The audience is in here!" "Relax mom geez!!" "Why aren't we doing it like this!?!" and then a crotch shot of Rick as he's moving from room to room. Then finally Matt (Luke's bro) saying, "Dad why is the light on? Are you recording now?!" Then a 2 minute tutorial on what the rec means and the green light. OK it's probably not that funny reading about it, but it was HIGHlarious watching it. Oh and Luke was the innkeeper at each inn and he would start laughing so hard every time it was his turn to talk. Gabrielle was super excited and had so much fun the whole trip. In the pics-Luke playing with Cal at his old elementary school, Gabrielle being the angel and said her line "Fear not", Us at the Discovery museum in Sausalito (with all the granola parents and same sex couples)-it's a cool place though. You can kinda tell in the pic that Gabrielle is biting her lip-she's been doing that so much lately. Luke saw her looking in the mirror covering her lip with her hand :( A few weeks ago she was commenting on how Cal's lip is small and how mine is too-she said she wanted hers to be small too. I told her that in a few months we were going to make it smaller at the Doctor's, but she was like "No No I don't want it smaller it's fine mommy". She's fine though-it doesn't phase her-she's just really thoughtful. I wish you all could experience the insanity I deal with on a daily basis with her "fashion statements". I don't care what she wears when we're home, but when we have to go somewhere I have to mentally prepare for the spaz out that will almost always occur. Just when I think I've got her in an outfit, she manages to make it crazy looking. The latest thing is wearing jeans or leggings and rolling or pulling them up above her knee. I mean that's not horrible with the leggings, but with the jeans it looks ridiculous. In Santa Rosa she put Cal's white button down on and thought she looked really good-of course she finished the outfit off with her off white leggings (pulled up). So let's see more pictures!! Thank you Maggie for putting some pics on -Jaylon is SO cute, I want to squeeze his chubby mocha thighs. Mom-you do look good in that picture, and sexy is definitely a word I would use to describe a grey long sleeve dress with a white round collar! Love you guys!!!
